What we will do
In urgent situations
Respond with compassion
In any serious or emotional conversation, the companion replies with care, calm language, and encouragement to reach out to a trusted adult.
Point toward real help
When a user mentions self-harm, abuse, violence, or another urgent concern, the companion provides crisis resources and encourages immediate contact with emergency services or a qualified professional.
Notify adults or guardians in a crisis
If a conversation indicates a credible risk of harm to a minor, Digital Paraclete will notify the adult or guardian associated with the account so they can take appropriate action.
Encourage human connection
The companion consistently points users back to adults, counselors, pastors, mentors, teachers, and other trusted adults — especially when the situation is serious.
What we won't do
Important limits
It is not a substitute for emergency services
Digital Paraclete cannot call 911, dispatch help, or intervene in real time. In an emergency, users must contact emergency services directly.
It does not provide mental health diagnosis or treatment
The companion can listen, encourage, and share resources, but it does not diagnose conditions or replace therapy, counseling, or medical care.
It does not keep secrets that could put a child at risk
While everyday conversations are private, disclosures of abuse, self-harm, or serious safety concerns are handled responsibly and may trigger adult notification.
It does not make guarantees
The companion cannot promise outcomes, solve legal problems, or provide definitive medical, psychiatric, or safety advice.
Adult & Guardian Notice
We notify adults in crisis or emergency situations
The safety of young people is our highest priority. If a conversation indicates that a minor may be at risk of serious harm — including threats of self-harm, suicide, abuse, or violence — Digital Paraclete will notify the adult or guardian associated with the account.
Notification is not a substitute for calling emergency services. It is an additional step to help families respond quickly and connect with qualified professionals.
Everyday questions about friendships, school, emotions, and values remain private to the account holder and are not flagged for adult notification.
